Sandane
Sandane is a public table tennis table designed for an urban park. The frame is made from simple steel plates painted with dark reflective paint. A chain of four wooden spheres works as a crossbeam. The spheres reflect in the paint, so a continuous chain appears to pass through the metal, making the structure seem translucent and light. The metal frame is built from only three unique pieces, which simplifies production and assembly. The design gives a robust piece of street furniture sculptural qualities.
Sandane Ping Pong Table by Torgeir Stige was featured as a creative illustration of industrial design by the A' Design Awards. Sandane Ping Pong Table won the Silver A' Design Award in Street Furniture Design in 2020. The A' Street and City Furniture Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design award which rewards excellent design of benches, bollards, bus shelters, bicycle racks, litter bins, planters, signage, lighting fixtures and more.
